Letter to NASCAR Fans

Dear NASCAR Fans,

I appreciate that you think this is a sport. Driving constantly to the left at high speeds for hours on end is only something the most skilled of athletes can do. I also understand that as I am not from the Deep South would never truly understand the meaning behind this sport. I get that most of you are redneck, right wing, republicans that hate the president (possibly because he is a democrat but more likely because he is half-black and that is what is ruining this country) and therefore you think it is okay to boo his wife.

Never mind the fact that she is showing her appreciation for your ridiculous sport by announcing the start of the race. Never mind that she is not responsible for the running of the country and is just married to the man. Never mind that it is the rudest thing in the world to boo someone. Especially if that someone who has a husband with an entire military behind him. I mean who thinks it's okay to boo the presidents wife?

I was not a fan of George W. Bush. I disliked him very much but that wouldn't stop me from showing him, or his wife, respect if they were at an event I was at. Yes I might protest his policies and his agenda but I would never boo him. I would especially not boo his wife. I mean, as I mentioned before, the man had the entire United States military at his disposal as well as the codes to all the nukes and missiles. I mean if he were a truly vindictive man he could easily make me disappear. So why do you boo her?

I get it she is the wife of that liberal, no-good, democrat that sits in the White House and you want him to know that you despise how he is running this country into the ground. Guess what NASCAR fans, he already knows that. He knew that before he even took office. I mean it has been 3 years, do you think he is really that stupid. I mean even the dumbest of presidents have acknowledged that people dislike them. Obama is not so dense as to think that the redneck, NASCAR loving, deep south is going to appreciate having a black, democratic president in the WHITE House.

I understand that the first lady and her counterpart, Jill Biden, were there to promote a charity that hires Veterans. I think this is a noble cause, and I understand that you cheered for the Veteran present that helped start the race with the first and second ladies. Why boo them if they were there for something you so vehemently agree with? I mean I am a left-wing, liberal, democrat and even I understand the importance of getting our veterans back into the workforce and giving them the respect they deserve. I was opposed to the war and when I was an unruly teenager I will admit I didn't show that respect but I grew up and got out of high school and now I understand that veterans and servicemen (and women) deserve our respect and that our opposition needs to go to those that start the wars not fight in them.

So I ask you NASCAR Fans, why are you all still in High School booing the opposing team? When John McCain gave his concession speech at the end of the 2008 election he mentioned his opponent (Barack Obama) and people jeered and booed. Yet the look on his face was the scariest thing I have ever seen. He glared at those jeers and boos until they stopped. Do you know why? Because booing for the winner is the stupidest thing you can do in this world. He won, fair and square (even though you may not think so), and McCain knew that (Check it out here).

So just shut up and stop booing the first lady. You may not like her husband, or Mrs. Biden's for that matter, and you may not like that she wants kids to be healthy and eat right (which doesn't seem like something we should be upset about but again I am not a NASCAR fan so what do I know) but you shouldn't boo someone. Booing is childish and stupid and makes you all look like idiots and embarrass a mother in front of her kids, her husband, her family, and the entire fucking nation. I mean I may not have gotten this upset if it was Laura Bush but I still would have thought it stupid.

Sincerely,

An American Citizen

Tuesday.
